ARTS & LETTERS Co-Chairs: Kayce Solari Williams and Alice Dabney –

The National Commission on Arts & Letters was established in 1973 by National President Lillian Benbow.  The mission of the Arts and Letters Committee of the Houston Alumnae Chapter is directly aligned with that of the National Commission on Arts and Letters. The Houston Alumnae Chapter – Arts & Letters Committee strives to advance the black experience by highlighting the artistic contributions of African American people, particularly in our city and region and also across our United States. We are proud to highlight artists from the past and present while exposing them to the public and bringing attention to them through mediums of music, dance, drama, and poetry. The committee promotes worthwhile cultural endeavors and artists through a variety of activities including theatre outings, concerts, plays, book events, paintings, poetry, and other works.

The Houston Alumnae Chapter – Arts & Letters Committee is committed to bringing forth activities and events that positively affect, reflect, and uplift the African American experience in our community and the community at large.
