The International Awareness & Involvement Mission is “to promote and enhance global citizenship within our sisterhood, by broadening the knowledge and understanding of other nations, increasing interest in international affairs and developing a greater appreciation for different backgrounds and cultures.” The HAC International Awareness & Involvement (IAI) Committee is committed to this mission by
providing financial support to Grand Chapter through the IAI Sustainability Plan for the seven approved international projects:

1. Adelaide Tambo Boarding School for Physically Challenged Children (Soweto, South Africa)
2. Delta House/Vashti Village (Mbabane, Eswatini, Swaziland)
3. DST Elementary School Cynthia Butler McIntyre Campus (Cherette, Haiti)
4. Mary Help of the Sick Hospital (Thika, Kenya)
5. I CAN FLY International Boarding School for Girls (Machakos, Kenya)
6. Muindi Mbingu Boys Secondary Boarding School (Machakos, Kenya)
7. T.R.E.E. – Training Resources for Early Education (Durban, South Africa)

HAC IAI provides additional financial support through the Blazing Southwest Region to Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc. Elementary School, The Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre Campus in Chérette, Haiti for meals,
staffing and facility improvements at the campus.

2023 – 2024 committee events and projects include:

• Special Recognition of International Service to Soror Verna Powers – Lesotho, South Africa Foreign Mission Trip
• World AIDS Day 2023 – HIV | STI free community testing event
• 35th Annual Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital – Washington, D.C. 
• K.I.N.D. Funds Project in partnership with UNICEF, USA – Sorors Sponsorship for Secondary Education
  of Girls in Malawi, Africa
• IAI partnership with HAC Wellness Initiative – Community Health Fair, TBD
• World AIDS Day 2024 – HIV | STI free community testing event at One Delta Plaza – December 2024
• Support to T.R.E.E. project* – Training Resources for Early Education (Durbin, South Africa)
  *one of the 7 approved international projects sanctioned by Grand Chapter PP&D
•  International Day of the Girl Child 2024 – IAI will celebrate this day on October 11, 2024, to recognize
  girls’ rights and the unique challenges faced by girls worldwide.
